As part of the McCafe Moms I was thrilled to attend the “Philly Style UnWrapped” event at Bloomingdales in KOP. The show premiered the exclusive McWrap inspired wrap dresses created by local up-and-coming Philadelphia designers.

The event also included trends including Garden Party, Street Style and The Great Gatsby.

The designers of the McWrap inspired dresses were on hand.  An online auction began at the event which benefited Ronald McDonald House Charities.  The bidding began at $75.

100% of the auction proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House. Each dress was a take on McDonald’s McWrap or the packaging.

One of the most popular dresses judging by the crowd reaction came from the

The skirt actually zips off, much like the packaging from a McWrap.

5 Ways to Keep Children Safe in the Summer

According to the CDC,  drowning is the leading cause of injury death among children aged 1–4 years. On average, 10 persons die from drowning each day, including two aged <15 years.  Most families are focused on having a good time, cooking out, sitting at the pool or on the beach.  There are several ways to keep children safe at the beach or pool.

1. Wear Sunscreen-its important to protect your skin.  Apply on ears, the back of the child’s neck and the tops of the feet.  Also wearing a t shirt and a hat can help minimize exposure.

2. Take a beach umbrella.  This is another great way to minimize exposure to direct rays of the sun.

3. Pack snacks like fruit and water.  Although kids may not complain of feeling dehydrated, it is important to keep them hydrated especially on warm days.

4. Sit by the lifeguard.  If you are on the beach or at a pool that has a life guard, sit by the lifeguard stand.  It makes it easier for your child to find you.  It also provides an extra pair of eyes watching children.

5. Learn CPR.  CPR classes can be taken at the local Red Cross, American Health Association, even the local YMCA.  Some pools and beaches do not have life guards, and directing a park ranger or 911 to your exact location may take additional time.  If a person initiate CPR quickly, it can often be lifesaving.

I was thrilled to receive an invitation to a Smashburger VIP event with other bloggers at the Parsippany, NJ location of Smashburger.  The best part about this event was the opportunity to try every burger they offer.

So we tasted the 6 burgers and 2 chicken sandwiches.  Being a secret foodie, I decided to go big or go home so I tried new things.  And after trying the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger I was glad I did.
