Frugal Mama: Walmart Money Card

This is not a blog you will read about my expensive taste.  This is a blog where I will tell you frugal ways to get by without coming across as cheap.  I have frugal swagger.  I wear $5 dresses but I use coupons and sales to buy them new.  My kids might look like I spend a lot on their clothes but I buy timeless items seasons ahead  when they are on rock bottom clearance.  If I see black boots, or brown leggings or white tee shirts, I buy them, in different sizes.

I had an issue recently with autopay.  A company kept trying to take money out of my account.  I filled a greivance with the bank and was not satisfied with the outcome, so I did something crazy…I cancelled my bank account.  I did love direct deposit and I am a debit card girl. I carry no cash, ever.

So I quickly realized this rash decision may not have been the best one but was not ready to go back to a bank.  This is when I goggled alternative check cashing.  I live in an urban area and was not willing to go to a corner store check cashing.  Then I saw this:

Basically you can cash your paycheck at Walmart for $3 if it is less than $1000.  You can either get cash or they will waive the fee to give you a prepaid Walmart Money Card.  You can then get direct deposit to the card, or reload it weekly.  I like that is can be used as a debit card.  I also go to Walmart for other things.
