my birthday bash-Newsies and a surprise hospital trip

To know my family is to love us.  My parents always get us awesome gifts.  Me and my brother’s birthday are 2 weeks apart and my daughter’s is in between my dad’s is a few days after.  I usually hustle a way to be at the beach with my family but this year my mom had other plans….

It started off with an email, Happy Birthday.  I shook my head as I clicked on it, my birthday was not for 6 more weeks.  Inside it was a ticketmaster confirmation for 3 tickets to Newsies in New York.  I called my brother, shreiking with excitement.  Newsies was our favorite musical when we were little.  We would watch the VHS of it and the tape actually wore out.  Then I told boyfriend my parents bought him a ticket too and he was actually excited.  After our Christmas gift which was tickets to Rock of Ages and our beach trip, he was pretty excited about gift giving in my family.

Not wanting to leave my daughter out, my mom came up with another surprise and got her tickets on the same day for Mary Poppins.  So all of us got in two cars and started driving. We were all under the impression we were going to Seacaucus NJ and riding the train in.  Then mom pulled off of 78.  We followed til we saw this:

St. Barnabas

You may be wondering why we are at a hospital while celebrating our birthday?  Or you may know us in real life so you think this is normal.  You may remember my parents voyage to Maine with my brother where they introduced him to camping and getting away from it all.  On the way there, he found a restaurant he loved.  Mom looked and found they had one on the way to New York, located in a hospital.

The surprise!

I swear he sprinted down the hall and fell on the ground.  Being 30 does not mean we will not act silly in public.

We went in and ordered 5 Cancun burritos for the 5 grown ups.  I was almost done when I thought to take a picture.

Afterwards, we drove to Seacaucus and caught the train to Penn Station.  The kids loved this.  They went to see Mary Poppins and we went to see Newsies.  I didn’t even realize Jeremy Jordan was the lead character Jack Kelly.

Our play was great.  It also finished before the kids so off we went to find dinner.   Tony’s other favorite restaurant from when he traveled for work was Potbelly’s.  I love their milkshakes.  We noticed one when we walked past 37th and 7th so we walked down.  Again, no food pics because the food was gone.
