I love finding new trends and sharing them with others. But I am a single mom on a budget. One of my favorite places is Aldi. We used to have an Aldi and the store was poorly lit and always appeared dirty. It was in a less than desirable part of town. Flash forward a few year and we have a new Aldi across from a Super Walmart. Every week, Aldi has the best prices on Milk, bread, eggs and produce. I will admit I barely buy meat there only because we live near a Giant that always has markdown and Wegmans which always has hamburger and chicken for $1.99/lb and I split the club pack with my dad. Aldi also sells things other than groceries. My most recent buy was a Crofton rotating buffet, aka dip holder. I also bought a toaster oven there a while ago. At Christmas they had kids toys-Fur real pets, Littliest Pet Shop and Mermaid Barbie.
Every week I buy diced tomatoes with jalepenos, refried beans, black beans, pre cooked bacon, pasta. The kids like the cereals even though I buy name brand cereal for them. I buy cream cheese and bagels as an occasional treat. We love most Clancy’s snack and I live off their apple cinnamon cereal bars.
We entertain a lot and I like their potato and macaroni salad. They have great prices on hamburger and hot dog rolls. This week they have a hummus quartet which I plan on buying. Everyone has a story of how Aldi was years ago but I really think people need to give it another try. In the current state of economy, saving a few dollars on staples goes a long way.
